Christine Alan is passionate about making a positive difference in people’s lives. Her heart’s desire is to inspire others with a positive attitude. She has a deep appreciation for life and believes that climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro is a beautiful metaphor for the challenges in life we must all overcome.

In 2007, Christine achieved a mission of hope, inspiration and awareness as part of Everest Rocks. Six months after overcoming her own battle with cancer, she summitted Kala Patthar, a mountain sitting at over 18,500 feet in the Nepalese Himalaya ! Fellow cancer survivors, mountaineers and musicians stood victorious and celebrated with pure joy as they overlooked the base camp of Mt. Everest, demonstrating that you can Climb Back From Cancer! The Everest 38 raised awareness and much needed financial support for the beautiful Nepalese people and cancer centers around the globe.

Christine is an advocate of early cancer detection, continuously encouraging others to be proactive in their health. As a former fitness competitor, she exemplifies a healthy and fit lifestyle, proving that cancer has no boundaries. During a routine office examination in 2006, Christine’s doctor discovered a lump in her one of her breasts, prompting a tidal wave of tests that ultimately confirmed a diagnosis of breast cancer. The cancerous mass was quickly removed via partial mastectomy and followed by an exhausting regimen of chemotherapy and radiation, due the large size, advanced stage, and aggressive characteristics of the tumor. During her treatment, she never accepted the possibility of a death sentence, but rather maintained a positive attitude and continued to work in her profession of 20 years as a Partner at Kaye/Bassman International Corp., a search firm she joined in 1989 after graduating from The University of Texas at Austin.

Christine resides in north Dallas with her husband, children and three furry four legged friends. She is honored to be chosen to participate in Kilimanjaro Rocks for such a worthwhile cause and can’t wait to be reunited with fellow advocates and “cancer thrivers!”
