Dave Catudal

Posted by Love Hope Strength on May 28, 2009

Dave Catudal was born in Montreal, Canada.

Raised by very fit and athletic parents, he was always surrounded by health and fitness. Dave has 2 sisters, Rachel and Stephanie, and a brother Philip.

When Dave was 10 years old, his younger brother (3 years old) Phillip Catudal was diagnosed with leukemia. Philip fought off the cancer for over 5 years with aggressive chemotherapy, blood transfusions and lumbar punctures, and finally won. He is now completely cancer-free and extremely healthy at 20 years old. Watching his brother and family come close together to fight cancer was a growing and strengthening experience for Dave and the whole Catudal family.

Several years later in 1998 Dave’s father, Pierre Catudal was diagnosed with stage 4 Cancer at the young age of 46. It was adenocarcenoma of the lungs which had metastasized to the lymph, liver, bones and brain. There was no treatment possible for Pierre’s condition, but again the Catudal family were faced with a new cancer battle and they fought so hard to try to beat it together. Unfortunately, one year of fighting later, Cancer took Pierre’s life.

Dave is so thankful to have such a strong and supportive family, and thanks to them he sees Cancer as a challenge rather than the enemy. A while after his father passed away, Dave focused all his energy on personal challenges and continued competing in extreme sports such as wakeboarding, where he competed at a professional level, snowboarding and Motocross racing where he enjoyed competing as often as he could. After years of extreme competitions (and many broken bones and surgeries later) he put his energy into challenging his own body in a new way, at the gym.

Dave became a certified personal trainer and studied Exercise Science at Concordia University, majoring in Athletic Therapy. After a few years of working 1 on 1 with clients in gyms between school, Dave was done with university and opened a gym in Montreal using his company name, Bodytone Fitness & Nutrition.

Dave recently took an opportunity to move to Los Angeles, California to private train full time. He is quickly becoming a highly demanded celebrity trainer. He has created a specialized fitness program, and is filming an exercise video series currently in production. Dave is also inventing and patenting new cutting edge exercise equipment products designed for athletic enhancement and physique transformation.

One of Dave’s clients, Kevin Carlberg is a cancer survivor, and Kevin is the man responsible for getting Dave involved with the love hope strength organization! They became friends as they worked closely together on Kevin’s health and fitness between cancer treatments and even brain surgeries. Dave is thrilled to be able to join his friend and client on the Kilimanjaro event!

“I would like to personally thank the Love Hope Strength organization and all its supporters. Cancer affects everyone all across the world at some point, in different ways. At times we feel powerless against this disease, but because of fundraising organizations, people who make donations, and supporters who give their positive energy towards events like this, we all have a reason to be hopeful that our actions are leading the way to a better understanding of the disease and we will continue fighting, never giving up hope”
