Kevin Carlberg

Posted by Love Hope Strength on Dec 19, 2008

Born and raised in Southern California, Kevin Carlberg was spawn from 2 dynamic parents and sandwiched between 4 beautiful sisters. Sports, books and pals were his pastimes- music was his passion. Kevin attended UCLA in 1995, where beyond parties and papers, he gained 2 things of unparalleled value- his band and his wife. During those four years, Kevin met the other 4 members of “Pseudopod”, where they made unique rock music and harvested a loyal following. In January 1999, he fell smitten with a quirky brunette- finding his soul mate at the ripe old age of 21. When his days at UCLA came to an end, Pseudopod was crowned Rolling Stone’s Best College band in America. Shortly after, they landed a major record deal with Interscope Records and headed out to record their debut album and tour across the country with the likes of Sheryl Crow, Dave Matthews, Live and Blues Traveler. Since his father’s unexpected passing in 1998, Kevin gladly obliged to be the “man” of his large family, and professionally carry out his dad’s insatiable love for music. He does this all with feverous conviction and steadfast dedication. In November 2002, while on tour in Colorado, Kevin was diagnosed with brain cancer. He underwent surgery, radiation and chemotherapy and soon returned to the road in support of Pseudopod’s self-titled label debut. Kevin was twice featured on the cover of the LA Times, in People Magazine, on Dateline NBC, and was recently featured on the groundbreaking StandUp2Cancer television special. His new perspective on life prompted him to start an altruistic program where in each major city the band traveled to, they stopped into a children’s hospital to play music.
Over a weekend during tour, Kevin recorded a unique acoustic CD with Grammy award winning record producer Paul Ebersold in Memphis, Tennessee. He sold thousands of copies while raising money for mounting medical bills, and distributed the CD to other cancer patients and organizations.
Most recently Kevin has played numerous benefits for cancer patients, completed the L.A.Marathon and has written perhaps the best material of his career. He serves as an unofficial spokesperson for cutting edge advances both at UCLA and the brain cancer community across the world. He just completed his first self-titled solo album with producer Dito Godwin (of No Doubt fame) in preparation of the next leg of his incredible journey.
