BEKI HEMINGWAY KERKMAN

Beki

I’m Beki Hemingway Kerkman, a newbie hiker and known “non-exerciser” who has named 2010 the year of new challenges.

In January, I celebrated my 40th birthday with a trip to Wales for the Gathering where I learned more about Love Hope Strength and was compelled to become involved.  There, Alarm frontman and Love Hope Strength co-founder Mike Peters encouraged me to give Pikes Peak a try. I decided then to participate in this great challenge for a great cause.

Raised in Buena Vista (amongst several 14′ers which I successfully avoided for the entirety of my formative years), and having lived in Chicago, Nashville, and Glasgow, I have called Denver home for the last five years. I work in events and tourism as well as enjoying a side-job as a singer/songwriter currently writing and slowly recording two new projects.

In addition to raising funds for Love Hope Strength and the wonderful things they do, I will be hiking to honor the memory of Bryan Mitchell, who worked with both me and my husband Randy for years as a music producer. His generosity touched our lives and his own life ended too soon at age 44 in March after being diagnosed with cancer in January.  He was an encouragement, inspiration and friend to us.
Cancer is now the world’s number one killer and has impacted most of our lives in one way or another. I am excited to be, with your help, part of the solution.
Thanks for visiting my page and helping me to reach my fundraising goal!
