I’m Chris Berry. I was born and raised in the Pocono Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania. I grew up skiing, golfing, hiking and enjoying the great outdoors. After spending most of my life in the East, I followed my love for the outdoors and adventure to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado nearly a decade ago. I am pictured in those beautiful mountains with man’s best friends; my father Arthur and my dog Fletch.
Like most people in this world, my family and friends have been unfortunately touched by cancer. My father was diagnosed with lung cancer 5 years ago. His courage, strength and will has allowed him to fight on with significantly less complications than is normally expected. For that, we are tremendously grateful. I became familiar with the LoveHopeStrength Foundation through a childhood friend, Shannon Foley (LHS Executive Director). Shannon has carried prayer flags for my friends, coworkers and my father to Everest Rocks and Peru Rocks. Since those treks I have lost 2 friends and have had another diagnosed with cancer. For those friends and many others, I will carry the flags to Pike Peak Rocks.
Cancer knows no limits and certainly is showing no signs of slowing down. We need to increase research and funding to help find a cure for this disease. I am hiking to raise money and awareness for that fight. Please support me, the LHS Foundation and everyone touched by cancer.
I am dedicating my hike to my father for his strength and courage to continue his fight, and to my friends Dave Bott and Cindy Heigman, both of whom we lost to cancer in 2009.
