My name is Destiny Jara and I am a Colorado Native. I work as a Child Life Specialist, in which I work on a daily basis with hospitalized children using play to reduce anxiety and stress. I absolutely love my job!!! During my career I have worked with several children each having a different diagnosis, from respitory diseases to severe disabilities to different types of cancer. In that time I have had the opportunity to be a big part of three in particular children’s lives who were diagnosed with rare types cancer, all of whom taught me to live one day at a time and continue to stay positive and strong, even when things are looking down. These three children are and were a big part of my life, and each one holds a special place in my heart.  I will be hiking to the top of Pike Peak with Taylor, Grant, and Carter.

I will also be trekking for my two grandparents that lost their battle against cancer.

I am proud and honored to be part of LHS and making this trek with such an amazing team. Each and every one of us have a story to tell and a reason to reach the top. We are all reaching for a goal and that is the Top of Pikes Peak to raise awareness and to continue to help the Love Hope Strength Foundation in their mission to continue to save lives one day at a time.
