I was inspired when my close friend, Jaime, hiked Machu Picchu last fall for the Love Hope Strength Foundation. At the time, I was not at a place in my life to take on the challenge. However, when she called recently to tell me about Pikes Peak Rocks, I did not hesitate to accept.

I am Hilary Stern, a proud wife and mother of two beautiful boys. With a degree in Education from American University and a Master’s degree in Education Administration from University of North Texas, I taught school for several years around the Dallas area. Currently, I work part time as an education consultant and full time as a mother to Noah and Aidan.

My love for Colorado stems from my childhood road trips with my family and a two week camping experience when I was 16. My devotion to raising money for machinery to help cancer patients is based on my love for those I know and love who are fighting and have fought this horrible disease.

I have a friend who has been battling cancer for eleven years and continues to fight it each and every day of his life. His wife, also a warrior, has stood by his side every step of the way. It is for them and their little girl that I will make this climb. Each step along the way will symbolize their journey…past…present…and future
