Jaime Cohen

Jaime Cohen currently resides in Dallas, TX with her 2 year old daughter and husband, Michael. She earned a BA in Psychology from UT at Austin and a Masters Degree in Social Work from UT at Arlington. She went on to work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Parkland Hospital as a social worker and later switched to Human Resources working for Behringer Harvard, a Real Estate Investment firm. Currently, Jaime’s main focus is raising and loving her 2 year old daughter, Claire.

Jaime unfortunately has known people very close to her that have battled cancer. Both of her grandmothers, grandfather and a close high school friend have all been taken by the disease. Last summer, Jaime’s mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and her world was turned upside down. Cancer was hitting too close to home, and it seemed too often. After hearing James Chippendale speak of LHS and his experience at Mt. Everest, Jaime felt an unwavering duty to join the Peru Rocks mission, in hopes to be an inspiration to others as James was for her. Knowing her mom was home battling cancer made it an even more worthwhile journey. Wow….what an experience. An absolutely incredible one, and an experience of a lifetime. It was powerful, inspirational, and most importantly, a help to so many in need of cancer treatment through the money that was raised.

Jaime thought that may be the last trip of that caliber she would take for awhile…with a family at home to care for….BUT, Pikes Peak Rocks came about and Jaime just could not pass up the opportunity. The most meaningful part of the climb up Pikes Peak for Jaime will be doing the climb with her mom. During Peru Rocks, Jaime was climbing for her mom, while she was at home, undergoing chemo and unsure of the status of her future health. Now, her mom is cancer free and they will be climbing together, with her mom, literally climbing back from cancer and kicking its behind!!

Jaime is also lucky to be joined on this trip with her dad, sister, brother, girlfriend and friend. Jaime thanks her incredible husband, Michael for supporting her unconditionally on these journeys and for taking care of Baby Claire Riley while she is gone!!
