I’m Pam Aurbach, born in Washington, DC, lived all over the US and London, but always Coloradoan at heart. Like so many of our friends in Colorado, we work to live, not live to work. So, rather than tell you about my job, I’ll tell you why I’m climbing up 12 miles of rocky mountain at 5 am on a Saturday, when it would be much easier to sleep in!
Selfishly, I’m doing this hike to spend 6 hours of quality time with one of my dearest friends, PJ. You might wonder how we can talk when walking 12 miles straight up hill – but trust me – we’re chicks – we can! Far more importantly, though, I’m doing the hike for the cause.
The more I travel, the more I realize that my mother was right when she used to say: “you don’t know how lucky you are”. If you’ve been to parts of Asia, Africa, South America, you know clean water and clean shelter are luxuries to some. So is healthcare. One of the great privileges of living in the United States is the significant advances we’ve made against horrible diseases like cancer. Love Hope Strength is dedicated to supporting cancer centers, inspiring those afflicted and saving lives. My grandmother died of breast cancer. That was the ’70s. Now, I personally have four friends between the ages of 39 and 51 who were diagnosed, treated, and have lived through it. Not long after his college graduation, my cousin Andrew survived Leukemia. That’s incredible. We have the power to solve these deadly problems, and with your support, we have the means.
Please support me and help us fight the good fight – against the disease that can take our loved ones.
Thanks! See you at the top!
