Teams: Hikers may create a team of as many people as they desire. This is great for family members, companies or groups of friends that wish to raise funds together. Please note that each team member is still required to pay the full registration fee and donation. No group discounts are available.
Physical requirements: Hiking to 14,000 feet is a strenuous task and should not be taken lightly. At high altitudes (above 10,000ft), there is less oxygen making it harder to breath and exercise. All hikers should be physically fit, no former hiking is required and no technical skills are required to hike Pikes Peak. Hikers not accustomed to the high altitude and physical demands of the trail are advised to arrive in Colorado Springs at least 2 days prior to the climb in order to properly acclimatise. Discount room rates at Antlers Hilton are available. The more time allowed acclimating, the better off you will be. It’s a different world in the mountains! Additional information on training and preparation will be provided to all registered hikers. Emergency personnel will be on site the day of the hike.

Current daily temperature on peak is 40 degrees.

- -Water will be provided but we recommend that you bring a camelback style bag with a water belly for easy carrying. Do not underestimate the amount of water you will need. You should plan on drinking 2-3 times more water than you usually drink – start this at least 2 days before the hike. Your body NEEDS to be hydrated when exercising at altitude and many of you are coming from sea level.****Drink water even if you are not thirsty to keep your body hydrated on the hike. Snacks will be provided but bring a favorite if you desire. We recommend energy bars, jerky and hard candy.
- -Sunglasses
- -Sunscreen
- -Bugspray
- -Windjacket
- -Fleece jacket
- -Gloves
- -Warm hat
- -Blister care and basic first aid needs
- -Trekking poles are optional. We recommend Leki hiking poles. Please note that trekker poles can be cumbersome towards the summit and may be left in the vehicles at the lunch checkpoint.
- -Good trail shoes or hiking boots. The terrain can be uneven and good ankle support will be a bonus. Currently, there is snow on the mountain. Please be sure your boots or hiking shoes are waterproof.
- -Shade hat, the sun can be strong on the mountain
- -Tissues for runny noses and…well.. you know what else
- -Gaiters (optional) they keep snow and debris out of boots
- -Plastic bag for trash…leave no trace is our motto!
- -A small backpack to carry it all in!
