JULY 30-JULY 31, 2010. Colorado Springs, CO. Join musicians, cancer survivors and supporters as we hike Pikes Peak, “America’s Mountain”. The most visited mountain in North America and the second most visited mountain in the world behind Japan’s Mount Fuji, Pikes Peak forms a stunning backdrop for Colorado Springs and the Garden of the Gods. At an altitude of 14,110 feet above sea level, Pikes Peak is the 31st highest peak out of 54 Colorado peaks and offers the greatest base-to-summit elevation gain in the state: 7,400 feet. About 15,000 people a year attempt to climb Pikes Peak on foot. 200 lucky participants will be part of our second annual Pikes Peak Rocks!
Pikes Peak Rocks will benefit our GET ON THE LIST campaign to register more people to international bone marrow registries.
We kick it all off Friday evening at the Antlers Hilton with a reception and performance by Miles Zuniga from Fastball. Saturday will begin at dawn with an acoustic set by Nathan Croswhite. We will be stopping along the way for a second acoustic set at 12,000 feet with John Common and Blinding Flashes of Light. And finally, hike up to the summit of Pikes Peak where we will be met by hundreds of daily visitors that arrive via car or train to soak in the breathtaking vistas. Here, a special performance will take place by Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional as we rock the top of Pikes Peak for the second year in a row!
The day will come to a close with a trip to the world famous Red Rocks Amphitheater where we will have a private reception with special guests Brett Dennen and Jaden Carlson followed by the unveiling of the 2010 prayer flags during the Michael Franti and Spearhead with Brett Dennen concert.
