June 17, 2007 – Forty trekkers will hike to Mount Everest’s Base Camp at 18,000 feet in Nepal Oct. 13 for Everest Rocks, touted as the first acoustic concert on the mountain. Among those on the 14-day trip: the Stray Cats’ Slim Jim Phantom, Nick Harper, Squeeze’s Glenn Tillbrook, and the Fixx’s Cy Curnin and Jamie West-Oram. Music will be fed daily from Everest to iTunes. Money raised will go to cancer research via the Love Hope Strength Foundation, founded by the expedition’s leaders, rock icon Mike Peters of The Alarm and James Chippendale president of CSI Entertainment.
