“Rock This Town” Benefit for LHS


Wednesday, June 23 – Sunday, June 27. Join Lagrange, the Belmont Hotel and NBC5 as we join forces to spend 5 days of music and fun to raise money for The Love Hope Strength Foundation and Children’s Medical Center. 100% of the tickets sales goes to the charities and our goal is to help them build up $30k in donations. We provide the bands and the music, you provide the energy and get the word out. We need you to help these charities meet their goals worldwide.

Day 1 “The Kickoff Party”

Where: LaGrange, Deep Ellum
What: SCREENING
7pm: Everest Rocks! James Chippendale hosts a screening of his acclaimed documentary of the World’s Highest Concert at 18,600 Ft in the shadow of Mt Everest. Watch James and fellow trekkers from legendary bands The Fixx, Squeeze, The Stray Cats and The Alarm on their pilgrimage to raise cancer awareness and provide material support for local care. Share personal moments from the inside care facilities and the Nepalese villages along the way. A touching tribute to anyone who has been affected by cancer.
9:30pm: Rock n Roll Raffle. Feeling lucky? Try your hand at our amazing raffle. Win swag items, nights at the Belmont, dinner at Lagrange, autographed pictures and even an upgrade to the VIP section of the Main Event Saturday. 100% of Proceeds from every raffle ticket sold go to the cause. Our grand prize will blow your mind!
1opm: DJ Pete Freedman. The Dallas Observer’s favorite music blogger and columnist on the scene spins all your favorite dance party tunes til 2am. We asked Pete to play some fun, old school and dorky music. You can’t miss it!

Day 2 “An Evening at The Belmont”

Where: The Belmont Hotel
What: >: LIVE! Enjoy cool cocktails and award winning food from Bar Belmont, the same group responsible for bringing you Smoke and Bolsa. This is your chance to see the brilliance of an artist and the brilliance of the Belmont concept. The view from the Belmont is spectacular and will make for an amazing night of fun.

7:15pm: Jackie LeighLet 7:15pm: Jackie Leigh Let Jackie captivate you with the sights and sounds of her unplugged set including her latest release with Adonis at Babyface Enterprises along with legendary covers of Johnny Cash and others. Together with Grammy-Winning artist Miles Zuniga you are sure to enjoy her heartfelt songwriting and beautiful music.
8pm: Miles Zuniga of Fastball brings you an amazing acoustic set at Dallas’ coolest hotel.

Day 3 “Music Mania”

Where: LaGrange, Deep Ellum
What: NBC5 Presents MUSIC MANIA!
7pm: NBC5 presents their 2nd Annual Guitar Hero Championship. Enter your band or just come and watch the amazing performances by Dallas’ best “air guitar” heroes! Watch the ‘bands” perform as they play Guitar Hero on our giant screen.. Our sound engineers have promised to turn it up to 11 and we guarantee, you have never heard Guitar Hero sound like this! The showdown begins at 7 and the winning team will win prizes. Details on how to enter coming soon or watch NBC5 to find out more. We will have an array of promoters onsite with FREE merchandise. Tons of prizes!
11pm: Jokersdeck Over the last several years, what can be described as nothing short of a universal force brought the five members of JOKERSDECK to one another. Although they were all born and bred in Texas, narrow cowboy boots and large feet forced them into a life of rock n’ roll. Til 2am or bust!

Day 4 “THE MAIN EVENT”

Where: LaGrange, Deep Ellum
What: LIVE MUSIC TO MELT YOUR FACE OFF!
7pm: Grant Jones and the Pistol Grip LassosFrom Dallas, TX we bring you the 2009 Shiner Bock Rising Star WINNER! Red Dirt Country like you have never heard. Grant’s infectious personality and the band’s true love of what they play make this a country band with a true rockstar essence. A crowd pleaser EVERY TIME!
8pm: Backporch MaryLoneStar Music calls this band “Blue Collar Rock & Roll” We call them mind blowing! An amazing band from Austin, TX that returns to LaGrange to rule the stage. A little bit of rockabilly, honky-tonk, and a lot of soul.
9:15pm: Boys Named Sue When it comes to country music in Dallas, Boys Named Sue® are what you would call a “big deal.” Originating from EDT, (East Dallas, TX) they are the self-proclaimed “Best Band Ever”. The Sues have yet to play for a crowd that they could not win over and we are sure this event will not be an exception.
10:30pm: Fastball Austin’s very own platinum album selling, 2 time Grammy Award Nominees hit the stage at LaGrange! Headlining THE MAIN EVENT, the trio is best remembered for their song “The Way’ and continues to create the amazing rock sound they are known for today. “The Way” made it onto VH1’s top 100 of the 90s. Their fifth album is titled “Little White Lies”.
11:45pm: Le Cure Our favorite Dallas 80’s party band closes out the night with a tribute to The Cure. Sing and dance the night away with THE BEST Cure tribute band ever. High energy and always an amazing good time.

Day 5

Where: The Belmont Hotel
What: Relax and Rewind at the Pool
1pm: DJ Jennifer Miller & Paul Paredes spin for the cause. D Magazine’s best DJs for 2010, this duo will get you off your feet and dancing in no time. We can’t think of a better place to catch a Mimosa or a Bloody Mary while hanging at the coolest pool in Dallas. ***The Love Hope Strength Foundation (LHSF) is the largest music music-centric cancer charity in the world. Founded in 2007 by cancer survivors James Chippendale ( Dallas resident ) and Mike Peters of the Welsh rock band The Alarm, LHSF helps build cancer centers around the world and register bone marrow donors to the international registry. Their efforts will treat tens of thousands of cancer patients each and in just one year registered over 5000 new donors to the bone marrow registry and found 30 matches.
