Members of the Fixx, the Gin Blossoms, Squeeze and the Stray Cats will participate in Kilimanjaro Rocks, a 12-day concert/fundraiser/journey to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro in East Africa. The event, which will take place from September 27 through October 9, was organized by the Love Hope Strength Foundation, co-founded by Mike Peters of the Alarm to raise awareness and funds for cancer care in East Africa.

Fans and supporters of the fight against cancer can watch the journey and send letters of support through LHS’ online journal. The journey wrap-up on October 8 with feast with the Maasai community and the unveiling of 6,000 prayer flags baring the names of family and friends who have been touched by cancer.

LHS has previously organized expeditions to Mt. Everest, Mt. Snowdon and Peru to raise fund, promote early detection and register people to the international bone marrow database.
