“If you think you’re too small to make an impact, try going to sleep with a mosquito in the room.” – Anita Koddick
Team One Love consists of Shane Wheeler and Kasey Jenack, a couple living in the Denver metro area. As natives of Denver, CO and Rochester, NY we have both lived in various places around the country but decided to move to Denver this past August to be closer to family, friends and the mountains. We are both employed in health care and see the realities and prevalence of this disease on a daily basis. Not only have we contributed in the medical care of others with cancer, but have also had family members diagnosed, in remission, and taken from us by various forms of cancer.
We were first introduced to this foundation watching the Everest Rocks special and were instantly interested and intrigued in learning more about this amazing organization. With ambitions to someday climb to the base camp of Everest, we saw the Pikes Peak event as a great way to start raising money for an excellent cause. We consider ourselves to be fairly active people who enjoy running, yoga, winter sports and travel. Shane has run multiple marathons and Kasey will be completing her first half marathon in May 2009. In addition, our love of music drew us to this foundation.
The mission of Love Hope Strength is one we fully support as it helps to fund immediate care, equipment, and supplies for those fighting the disease. It aids those without the means to help themselves; a serious issue relevant in the current economy.
We have many supportive friends and family, and are looking forward to this hike; a hike we know is far less challenging than the daily fight facing the people we are walking for. Many thanks in advance for your continued support.
Shane and Kasey
